ABOUT OUR FEATURED POET:
Gregg Yupanki Bautista is a poet, artist, and musician born and raised in the US to Peruvian immigrants. His work is heavily influenced by his Andean heritage and often explores themes of migration as a natural phenomenon and circumstances that may lead to the dissonance of cultural assimilation vs. integration. His poetry has appeared in By The WAYE and The Red Wheelbarrow, while his visual art has appeared in New American Paintings and earned him residencies with the Vermont Studio Center and the School of Visual Arts.
As a musician, Gregg records and releases music under the name Yupanki, a multidisciplinary conceptual music project with releases including an EP and singles, along with an illustrated chapbook of poems and short stories titled Un Lugar Lejos: Valleys (Echo Thread Books, 2024).
He is also the founder of Echo Thread Projects and hosts the poetry open mic series Poets & Storytellers Open, held in the beautiful sustainable clothing boutique Wull & Oak in the heart of Downtown Hopewell, NJ.
Echo Thread considers all events a safe space and will not tolerate any instances of discrimination, harassment or abuse in or around any event.
