A CantoMundo fellow and Best of the Net nominee, they received a 2025 Individual Artist Fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and 2026 residencies from Sundress Academy for the Arts and the Poetic License Project. Micaela’s work, informed by her experience as a restorative justice practitioner, maintains that 1) accountability is a form of storytelling, and 2) that healing is an inherently creative act. As a facilitator, they conduct oral histories, guide dialogue across political differences, and lead embodied storytelling workshops at the intersection of poetry and dance.
